There are many signs, both physical and behavioral, that indicate drug use. Each drug has it's own unique manifestations but there are some general indications that a person is using drugs.

- Unexplained absences from school and drop in academic or work performance.
- Staying out till very later frequently
- Possessing drugs or drug paraphernalia
- Prolonged or frequent absence from home.
- Unusual flare-ups or outbreaks of temper
- Changed sleeping pattern
- Withdrawal from responsibility, family members and isolation.
- General changes in overall attitude
- Lost of interest in hobbies, sports and other favorite activities
- Wearing of sunglasses at inappropriate times
- Deterioration of physical appearance and grooming
- Wearing of long-sleeved garments particularly in hot weather
- Association with known substance abusers
- Unusual borrowing of money from friends, co-workers or family members
- Stealing small items from home, work or friends
- Secretive behavior regarding actions and possessions; frequent trips to restroom or to abandoned, and isolate places.
- Red, watery or glassy eyes
- Sniffle or runny nose

   
 
 
The following are some of the signs and symptoms
of the most commonly drugs use in Macao:
 

 Heroin
Narrow pinpoint pupils, vomiting, constipation, track marks on arms or legs, itching and scratching, weight loss, cessation of menstruation, finding spoons with burn marks and aluminum foil, and blue pills.

 Ketamine
Slow breathing, decreased heart rate, respiratory problems, intoxication, drowsiness, confusion, tremors, and nausea.

  Ecstasy
Increased heart rate, convulsions, extreme rise in body temperature, uncontrollable movements, insomnia, impaired speech, dehydration, high blood pressure, grinding teeth.

  Marijuana
Compulsive eating, bloodshot red eyes that are squinty (they may have trouble keeping them open), dry mouth, excessive and uncontrollable laugher, forgetfulness, short term memory loss, extreme lethargy, delayed motor skills, occasional paranoia, hallucinations, laziness, lack of motivation, stupidity, sickly sweet smell on body, hair, and clothes, strong mood changes and behaviors when the person is "high", and cigarettes roll paper.
