Short-term effects:
Narrowing of the blood vessels, dilated pupils, increased
body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure, anxiety, panic,
insomnia, loss of appetite, irritability.
Cocaine effects are short lived, and once the drugs
leaves de brain may occur tremors, vertigo, muscle twitches, severe
agitation, feeling of persecution, depression, fatigue, convulsions

Long-term effects:
Paranoia, irritability, mood disturbances, auditory
hallucinations, impotence, loss appetite, feelings of persecution.
Snorting cocaine can destroy the sensors tissues of
the nose.
The Injecting drug user is also at risk for acquiring
or transmitting HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B or C if injection equipment
is shared.
Cocaine related deaths are often a result of cardiac
arrest or seizures followed by respiratory arrest. There have been
reports of persons that died from small doses. |
